DO YOU ACCEPT INSURANCE?

I am in-network for Aetna, Husky/Medicaid, Cigna/Evernorth, and Optum insurance plans (UnitedHealthcare, Connecticare). I am also an approved out-of-network provider for TriCare Select. For other insurance providers, I am considered an out-of-network provider. For these plans I will provide you with a "superbill" which you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement out-of-network benefits. On average, clients with PPO insurance plans seem to get reimbursed for 65-75% of their sessions after their deductible is met. I recommend using an app like Reimbursify to submit the superbill for easy reimbursement. They charge $1.99 per claim.

HOW DO I PAY FOR THERAPY?

Payments may be made by cash, check, Paypal, Venmo, or credit card at the time of session.

CAN I SUBMIT TO MY INSURANCE, EVEN THOUGH YOU ARE OUT OF NETWORK?

If you intend to submit a receipt or superbill for reimbursement, I recommend calling your insurance company beforehand and asking the following questions:

  1. What are the “reasonable and customary” amounts covered for the initial intake session (CPT code 90791) and for subsequent therapy sessions (CPT code 90837 for individual therapy) provided by a psychologist in Connecticut?

  2. Is pre-certification or pre-authorization required? If so, ask for (and write down) the authorization number or code.

  3. Do you have a deductible you need to meet before your insurance starts to cover payment? If so, how much of the deductible do you still have to meet for this calendar year?

  4. Is there a maximum number of sessions per calendar year, and is there a lifetime maximum number of sessions? If so, how many of these sessions have been used?

WILL WHAT I SAY BE KEPT CONFIDENTIAL?

Your privacy and confidentiality is an important piece of the therapeutic process. What you share in therapy is kept confidential with a few exceptions. With your signed permission, I may collaborate with another provider such as your primary care physician or psychiatrist. By law, I am required to break confidentiality and report to the appropriate authorities if I learn that you are a danger to yourself or others or if I learn of actual or threatened harm to those who are vulnerable such as children, elderly, or those with special needs. We'll discuss all of this in greater detail during our first appointment.

NO SHOW/LATE CANCELATION POLICY

Please be mindful of the 24 hour cancelations policy. In case of a missed appointment or late cancelation, the full appointment fee will be charged. Prior to your first appointment a credit card will be required to reserve your appointment; your card will not be charged until the time of your appointment. If you are using insurance, you will be responsible for the full appointment fee if you no show or cancel within 24 hours of your appointment.
