What is Online Therapy?

Online therapy, or teletherapy, is the provision of live video therapy through your computer or smartphone.  With the fast pace of post-pandemic life, online therapy offers you increased convenience and accessibility. It offers you the ability to address your anxiety, stress, and emotional needs from the comfort of your living room, office, bedroom, and even your (parked) car. Research shows that online therapy is as effective as in person therapy at addressing emotional health needs and meeting treatment goals.  In addition, many insurance companies now cover online, telehealth sessions. Through online therapy, you are provided with a safe space to explore your worries, stressors, and fears in order to cope more effectively with life's challenges, reduce self-defeating behaviors and reconnect you to your passions. With a focus on wellness and healthy lifestyle,  online therapy can help you get unstuck and feel good in your life again. Dr. Morgan is licensed to provide online therapy through PSYPACT in 40 participating states.  See if your state is participating here.

How Does Online Therapy Work?

I provide online therapy through confidential and secure HIPAA-compliant platforms (Simple Practice, RemotEMDR) that allow us to meet  with privacy and convenience. You can use your computer or smartphone, complete forms electronically, and be in the comfort of your own home, office, or other safe place.  Often, because there is no commute, therapy takes less time, can fit better into most people's schedules, does not require as much time away from work or family, and there generally is more flexibility. There is less need to cancel in the event of bad weather or illness, which creates more consistency in treatment.  In addition, online therapy sometimes lessens the social stigma (no awkward waiting room, more privacy) that can make it harder to reach out for help.
